This FIFA WC has seen a lot of unbeleivalbe and surreal games. There have been many upsets and in general, a lot of Asian and african teams have stood out and have performed exceptionally. Today, We will be looking at some of the best moments of the world cup.
#1- The moment when Japan took the lead against Spain
The goal itself had a lot of controversies around whether it was a goal or not, but the moment was magical.
The ball, in my opinion was out but then the officials gave it a goal and the celebrations of the Japanese squad was just spine-chilling. Ao Tanaka, ran in and tapped the ball home which gave japan the lead. And not to mention the full time celebrations where the Spanish could be seen nervous and waiting on the result of the Germany vs Costarica match which happened simultaneously.
#2- The Socceroos advancing to the knockouts
Hundreds of Aussie fans in the Fed square in Melbourne, Australia celebrating when Mathew Leckie scored for Australia was just spine-chilling. It just shows how much it means to them, their soccer football team advancing to the next round. After losing their first match to France, everyone, including me thought they were bowing oot of the group stages yet again, but they inspirationally turned their tournament with remarkable wins against Tunisia and Denmark.
#3- Saudi Arabia's inspirational comeback
It's halftime. Argentian 1-0 Saudi Arabia. 60' Saudi Arabia has netted two goals to lead Argentina. The way they played and the way they celebrated after the second goal was just unbelievable. No one saw that coming, neither did I. They had three shots on goal and scored two of them. As I always believe, It's about converting your chances into goals rather than having fifteen shots and none scored.
#4- Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first player to score in five WCs
That man is simply incredible. He is there for Portugal all the time when the team is in trouble. He came close in 2006, but lost in the semifinals against France, but will they go all the time this year? Let's wait and watch!
Anyways, that was it. I hope you enjoyed the blog. New blog coming out tomorrow!!
